 I just recently became aware of this new requirement.

12.2 Only bowsprits supplied by a HOBIE CAT
COMPANY are class legal. The bowsprit shall
have a blunt end cap fitted.
The bowsprit shall
be fixed on the longitudinal centre line of the
boat as provided by the manufacturer. Supporting
wires/lines may be shortened, lengthened,
mounted and/or rigged in any manner. Additional
blocks/cleats for spinnaker running gear
and jib luff control as well as snuffer type systems
may be mounted on the bowsprit.

So, wanting to do this right with NA's only a few days away, I looked it up.
What is a blunt end cap anyway?

How am I going to get one of those through customs?

I have it from a solid source that you can pick up one of those when you get over the border, eh!.

The stock end cap as supplied by Hobie Cat is a "blunt end cap" for the purposes of the class rule.

The rule is meant to prevent "spearing" injuries caused by a cut away pole.

I lost mine. Same with the boom. I should replace those, it just looks rugged with out them. Like it should be parked outside of a rusting trailer home next to a 84' Camaro in primer grey.

Tape it inside the spin pole, then cover it with the blunt cap

The rules dont say it has to be the original HC blunt cap, so probably a piece of cork should do, but you cant smoke it.

Is this rule still applicable under the new ISAF rules? I wanted to run a open cap that allowes the tack to run out the end of the pole. It is a rounded aluminum piece similar to the Infusion.
Will this be class legal?
