I'm a big fan of Aquata and Magic Marine for harnesses and race life vests

I like the captains harness from hobie and the solquist life jacket for hobie . Also the convertable harness is nice if you want a bucket some times and a full back other times. Jeremy at surf city had about 5 for me to try when i got the tiger and i setled on the hobie harness.

Thanks guy's.
I will check out your recommendations. Any feedback on Gill or Da KINE HARNESSES?

DaKine is good product, paying a little extra for the name. Gill is good stuff but not so popular amongst catsailors, dinghy guys seem to love it. Gill drysuits are quite nice.

If money is no object take a serious look at the Zhik harness, it is really nice.

I think their PFDs are a good way to go as well.

I make my own harnesses but would spend the money for a Zhik if I did not.

Later,
Dan

Hobie, Murray's, Zhik, Gill, Gul, Aquata, Magic Marine all have great products. The best one is the one that fits you best.

Best bet is to try on as many as you can and find the one that fits you. Hopefully you have a dealer in your area where you can do this. Remember that you can't tell the fit by putting it on and standing there. Your dealer should have a rope that you can hang from. Spend about 5 - 10 minutes if you can, as flat as possible, without moving.

For the PFD, again put on as many as you can and try moving around, bending, kneeling, twisting.

You will have this equipment for years, so spend an hour or so and make sure it's right.

^That is really good advice^. My dealer only has one brand(Hobie) and nothing to try them out on.

Thank you all very much!

Great advice. Dinghys had a very good recommendation as to trying on various harnesses. Does anybody know of such a place in the North East. I live in New Jersey and would travel if necessary to get the right stuff.

Thanks

You might have issues with selection at this time of year (I only have a couple of different harnesses, though lots of PFDs, in stock now), but check the different manufacturer's websites to see who sells them near you and try to get the most selection.
