Post subject: | Torque'ing a Tiger |
I am going to create an epoxy bed for my Tiger beams. I couldn't find any specs on acceptable torque for the beam bolts on the initial install. I just tightened them as far as I was comfortable and then retightened after the first couple sails. Is there a recommended torque to tighten the hull bolts for a Tiger? Thanks, -john |

No recommended torque specs that I've ever heard of. My method is to tighten until I hear the first signs of fiberglass crunching and then stop. Make sure you use the double nuts provided with the boat to keep them locked, we've tried a single nut which seemed to loosen after every sail. Also, with a new boat make sure to re-tighten after every sail for the first few sails just to make sure everything seeds down properly and then re-check for tightness every few sails after the boat has been broken in. |
