Post subject:  Brand New Spin Halyard Problem

Has anyone encountered this and have a remedy: I rigged by brand new 06 Tiger that had never been in the water (I know - it's weird), sailed it & flew the spin for the first time at Spring Fever this year, brand new halyard out of the factory bag and stretched full length to rid the kinks, it still wound so many times unknown to me that it braided double thick, would not douse back through the loops on the spin, we had to leave the course to figure it out missing 3 of 4 races that day, stretched it full out again, said prayers and spilled beer over it, etc. and it still doesn't look happy. It measures about 5 mm or 3/16ths. Any successful remedies before i suck it up and replace it rather than risk a repeat? What would you replace it with?
Thanks.

I just got my Tiger, never rigged it, never sailed it but given the fact that a halyard is probably 20-30 bucks and a new spinnaker is 900 bucks, I'd call it a no brainer. Let the factory one uncoil for a while, then you have a spare!

I recommend the new 'tapered' spi halyard - the old line kits weren't the best quality - and the newer one is allot better.

The part # is F18060458 (you can order this from any dealer in the US)

The new tapered halyard is the way to go.
