Hello , From the UK. Firstly, great forum, many very useful tips and info,now the question. We recently purchased a new Tiger with the stx sail and are having increasing difficulty getting the main sail to locate at the head. We let the hook slide up the mast track to starboard , is this the correct procedure and is there a recommended knot for securing the halyard to the sail head ? We have no trouble releasing the sail and getting it down. Any suggestions or views would be greatly welcomed. Great boat , very pleased with the performance, and a better boat for our crew wait of @ 160kg - 364 lbs . We have a Spitfire cat as well, but this boat ,although very exciting, is better suited for lighter crews. Regards, |

I'm working from memory here but I'm sure someone will correct me if I get it backwards. Pass the halyard through the hole in the headboard from stbd to port and tie a figure 8 or double thumb knot. Its worth taking the time to clean up the edges of the hole with a file as it'll slowly eat cut into the halyard. When raising the sail put the hook on the port side of the mast. Pull the sail up till the hook is beyond the top, pull the spanner to stbd then pull the sail down. Hope this is helpful. |

Scarecrow is exactly right. I let the mast go back after I rotate it and before I pull down on the sail. That means that I will rotate the spreader bar to the starboard side after the sail is up all the way then before pulling down on it to get it to latch, let the mast go to neutral. Do not rotate it the other way physically just let it finds its own center. Later, Dan |
