If you have a "small sail plan" jib or spinnaker you would like to sell, please see my posting in Sailboats - Classfieds - Looking to Buy, "Wanted: Tiger Small Sail Plan Jib & Spinnaker", Posted: Wed Jul 07, 2010 8:34 pm

Also, if you happen to know that certain small jib sails or spinnikers will or won't work on our 2006 Tiger, I'll appreciate the info.

It look like I'm going to have to switch to the small sail plan; I can't fault the crew for losing weight, and don't want to bulk up myself.

Thanks,
Russ

Russ

If you want the small sail plan for F-18 racing you may be best off getting them aftermarket. I have been using aftermarket spins for non hobie racing and really like them. Out of resprct for Hobie I won't post where i buy them but if you want send me an e mail. Spins cut to the large 21m2 are about $850 new. I don't know about the 19m2 chutes but the pricing would be pretty similar.

As for Jibs you could check arround and maybe they have some old small plan jibs in stock. Or just have one cut to spec.

Au contraire mon ami

I have it on very good authority that the Small Sail Plan available through Hobie EU is amongst the best available and allows you to remain class legal.

Crew weight change submission (Florence Delory).
Change actual class rules crew limitations C.3.2 (a) (3) by :
• Crew between 135 kg and 150 kg may use the large jib and large spinnaker and then shall carry extra weight equal to half the difference between their actual weight and 150 kg.
• Crew between 130 kg and 135 kg may use the large jib and large spinnaker and then shall carry extra weight equal to the difference between their actual weight and 135 kg + 7,5 kg.
The proposal is modified as follow before the vote : The crew weight change will be in force as experimentation for all events from July 2010 until December 2011.

The proposal is voted and accepted
Voted YES: GBR (6), IRL (3), HUN (3), ESP (4), FRA (18), BEL (12), GER (14): 60 votes
Voted NO : USA (8), NED (16), Italy (14) : 38 votes

Jacques - Thanks for the info!
Rich - Thanks, and I owe you big time! Goes to show it would pay to keep abreast of the rules! I'm pretty sure we can keep our combined weight above 130 kg =286.6 lbs.
