On Mischa's web site in Tiger Tuning section he recommends stretching trapeze from bridle pin to bottom of "non skin" at back of boat. Anyone know exactly what that means? He will be here in Toronto at the Canadian F18 championships this weekend on Sept 24-26th so I can ask him in person but I would like to tune the boat up and be sailing alongside when I do. Sure, that'll happen. |

It's a typo - "skin" = skid. Mischa will be glad to show you on the beach. It's relatively easy to change your mast rake. |

I tried checking my Tigers mast rake this way, but even with the forestay in the top hole of the bridle chainplate, I'm still 3-5" off from his mark. What gives? Swap my 10 hole adjuster for a 12 hole? Mitch Booths guide recommends Tiger rake to be from the front bridle base to the rear porthole or a little further back, who's right? Given that Mischa just won the Can F18s against newer generation boats on a borrowed Tiger, I'd say he knows his stuff. |

hi guys, well i have the same problem,I can't understand where exactly Mitca means when says "bottom of non skin at the very back of the boat".In my tiger I have the rake between the centre of the hatch and the back corner of the boat and in winds over 16 knots I feel that the boat is luffing too much.Especially when the windward rudder gets off the water!Mike did you finally ask him?Tallguy have you understood where he means? |

You need to rake the mast back more and make sure your rudders are raked as far forward (under the transom) as they can go. Mischa's measurement is to the non skid at the transom/hull edge. The non-skid overlaps the rail (the corner where hull and deck meet) about 1.5 inches. Measure to where the non-skid ends on the side of the hull at the transom. This also roughly translates to the upper rudder gudgeon on the transom. |
