Any ideas on what a 2000 Hobie Tiger in decent shape is worth? I am looking at one this weekend and I really don’t know much about Tigers I think this would be one of the first produced so any info on standard features would be great. I have owned a few cats my last one was H18 the hulls snapped last weekend and finding a newer H18 for sale is rare or overpriced so I am considering this Tiger. I’m not a racer but enjoy speed :D but the majority of the time I will just be sailing with my friends. Since I’m not concerned with staying competitive with the F18 class will the up keep cost remain fairly low? Other considerations?

Just got my 2003 for $4500. Two sets of sails (one set almost new) and 3 spins. Boat is in great shape and came with many extras including beach wheels and trailer. Rigging in great shape also and came with new sumbrella covers for hulls and tramp. Hope this helps.

Yes it does help the one I am looking at does not have the self tacking jib so I was thinking of offering 4K but now Im thinking less as it really looks like the boat has not been used or even washed.

Your local Hobie dealer is a good start. It's much harder to find used parts than for a 16, unfortunately, but stuff does come up on the forums occasionaly

I looked at the boat today the tramp, lines & inspection ports are toast from sitting in the sun. There is a dent on the front x-bar from not turning the mast when lowering it plus the striker rod is bent and missing the mast ball. The tiller x-bar is broken and Im sure the rigging should be replaced. I got an estimate to replace everything and its close to 1k and I probably overlooked something. The hulls were solid but could use some TLC the square top, jib & spin are original but in good shape the pin head was missing. So $1000 in parts & a ton of labor for a first generation Tiger the $5400 asking price is crazy!

I'd keep looking, sounds like that boat was neglected and/or abused. All those repairs can really add up, new lines alone can be over $600, my tapered spin halyard was $110!

Keep looking for something a little less neglected and you'll be happier in the long run I'd bet.

Good luck!

No divorce. Just a good deal. I'd also recommend to keep looking. I'm sure if your patient you'll find a good deal like I did.
