Can anyone confirm the spin tang height on a tiger. I am installing a tiger spin on a 18sx. Tang is currently at 24'. Do I need to relocate it?, using a 12' pole with end snuffer. Thanks |

The important measurement will be the distance from the end of the pole to the halyard turning point. I think that is supposed to be 27 1/2 feet. Measure the luff of the chute and make it about 4 to 6 inches longer just to be safe. You will be making the luff rather tight while sailing. If you grabbed the luff in your fist you should only be able to turn your hand 90 degrees or less. As a point of information I think that 24 feet from the crossbar straight up is what I measured for the Tiger spinnaker halyard turning point. Thanks Dan! I got concerned about an extra 1.5' of mast above the shroud tang if I cut a standard mast. I was able to buy a SX mast. It has a 8 rivet tang at 24' from the base. I am concerned about the corrosion at the base and lower diamond attachment. Actually has holes in it. Upper extrusion is fine and comp tip looks fine. Can't get any info on how to repair the damage. I understand there is very little load there. Any ideas? |

Can you send any pictures of the damaged area? It would help to clarify the repair. A couple of thoughts as long as I am online. You could use the Zinc rods that braze aluminum with a propane or mapp torch. This would not be a strong fix but an asthetic one. You could use a two part aluminum epoxy. It is like a putty when you mix the two parts together then squish it in the area. I would like to see it before I offer up too much more. Later, Dan |

Dan, I will get some pics today. I am going to do a photo log of this repair since theres not much info on the web about this. Spoke with Mike at Multi-marine in Venice yesterday and he gave me some good advice on sleeving it. Also spoke to Chris Rooke at Rooke sails and he said about the same thing as Mike. Hobie apparently won't add their opinions as I can't get a post from Matt Miller. |

Measurement on a Tiger... 26' 8" Up from the bottom. (3' down on the Tiger mast). As Dan noted, the critical distance is the pole end to tang height. Length of pole and pole height change this. |

Thanks again Matt. You responded to another inquiry about spin pole install on H18. Can you give me the part number for the yolk that should be used, I am pretty sure I ordered the wrong part. I have a Tiger pole with the U shaped attachment bracket. |

Thanks again Matt! I am going to set up the boat this weekend with the 28' mast and start taking measurements for the chute. I need to work on the 29' 6" mast and get rigging before I can set the spin up on that mast. I am really excited about this project. Hope it will sail as fast as I think. |
