Please Help!

I'm trying to redo the trim stripes on the sides of the Tiger hulls (they are gone) and they aren't available any more, so I'm going to make my own. If you have one that still has these stripes, can you please:

1) Measure the width of each black stripe
2) Measure the separation between each stripe
3) Tell me if the stripes are perfectly horizontal, or do they follow the curve of the deck. If they follow the curve, measure the distance from the deck to the top of the first stripe.
3) Send a picture of the "arrow" that goes in front of the two stripes, and it's dimensions.

Thanks, I really appreciate it!

Mark

Mark, I'm interested to hear how you do this. I took the stripes off of my 16 last Fall and would like to put some back on.

Hi Zach,

Both 3M and Prostripe make nearly ever color and width of striping tape that you could want, including larger widths to hand-make pieces like the arrows. I'm guessing the Tiger stripes have some strange metric width, but I should be able to get "close enough" with US widths. Here are links to both suppliers:

http://3mcollision.com/products/decorat ... e/striping
http://prostripe.com/

One warning is that it's REALLY hard to put on a stripe that is straight or accurately follows a curve. Here's how I did it on my Hobie 18. I first put down 2" wide blue painter's tape on the hull that followed the curve of the deck, then added a 3/4" width of painter's tape right below that, and then the lower edge of that tape gave me the edge that was the guide for the striping tape. It took several hours to do both the inside and outsides of both hulls.
