I picked up a Tiger. (was Matt Bounds, then David Lee's now mine) and the tramp is decent, but I'd like a new one. Will the new curved style work on this boat? currently it has the square sides with the side slot rails being used. Does hobie still sell the square one? or do all older Tigers need to be upgraded to new style? any benefit to using the new style? |

The advantages of the tracked (square) tramp are that there's no gap between the hull and the tramp and it's a bit lighter. But that's about the only advantages. The tramp is a PITA to get on / off due to the track. When I owned the boat (2004 - 2008), I never took it off. BTW, the boat is an '02, and Rob Jerry (dealer in Syracuse) had it first. It was one of the 2002 Alter Cup boats (#1111). |

That single line up the side is a pig to get tight too. I think I ended up doing a cascading 3:1 truckers knot in dyneema and my main blocks to get it adequately tight on my FXone. |

You can use the new style tramp. You may have to add a couple tie down points for the mid point tie downs. This can be done by just making a loop with a knot that will slide down the tramp track. |

Thanks guys - but... 1. DO they still make and sell and offer the 92 square tramp? Else I must get new style? 2. New style - will work then... albeit with some minor frustration? Matt - thanks for that info - yes the original sails are 1111 and look like they've never been used. The jib is folded and seems unused at all. This was a furling jib? as it has no battens. Were there any special graphics on these boats? I'm restoring it a bit and would be cool to re-create the Alder Cup logo/graphics if there are such photos around? Yes I knew it was a 92. DOH - I see - typo in my title. = ) |
