What is the standard hoist height for the TIger spin?

Tang height on a Tiger is 26' 8". They run a 29'6" mast. My 18sx is setup this way. Just be sure you don't end up at the top of your mast, that won't work. How tall is your Nacra mast?

The mast is about 27'8, I do have a slightly longer spinnaker pole than what the tiger normally runs.
How close to the top of the mast could I get without being in serious danger or breaking something? I figured 3 feet....so this spin might not work, but that isn't a big deal, I have a friend who wants to buy it for the same price I paid if it doesn't work out. But I would like to make it work.

Any suggestions?

I think your right in estimating 3' from the top of the mast. My solid mast is 28' and it worked fine. Is your mast solid or composite, I know little about Nacra's? You could always have the chute altered to fit your limitations.

My mast is solid, so it might work but I will have to be very very careful running it.

How tall is you 18sx mast? and how close to the top of it are you? Ever had any trouble? Sorry for all the question I just don't want to see my mast break and you experience is priceless to me.

we put a spin on our H20 with the comptip and were reall worried about it snapping off, but it seems to be ok. we just keep the mainsheet nice and tight when the chute is out. good luck. you will never want to step on a cat without a spin again!!!!

SX mast is the same height as a Tiger, so my turn block is approx 3' from the top. If your going to run a spin that high up your mast you must never release the main or your mast will fold. The spin will naturally lift the nose when fitted properly, your proposed setup may create a nose down issue. I'm not sure. It would be best to consider having the leech and luff shortened to fit the mast properly. You are closer to the mast height of a 16, so a recut to F16 dimensions would likely work best in the long run. Just my 2 cents

Yeah, that is what it looks like might have to happen. I am rigging the pole either tonight or tomorrow so we will see.

If I have to have it altered, does anyone know someone who alters spins that they trust?
