Tiger Tuning Tips

I have been searching the net for tuning tips for a while. There is not much more than Mitch Booth's tuning guide. Anyone know of any good links ?

As being a yachty at hart and now entering the cat world I have been having issues with the down haul and mast rotation settings in different breezes. If anyone has any advise would love to know.

1 - 5 knots
Down haul - ?

5 - 10 knots

Mast Rotation - ?

10 - 15 knots
Down haul - ?

These articles are pretty good.

As well you may try looking up some Nacra F18 tuning guides and tips...much of it is pretty similar.

As far as downhaul and mast rotation.. depends on how you're sailing. If you're not going as fast as you'd like you may try easing up on the downhaul and letting out the rotator a little bit. General tip is for full power sail with the rotator pointing at the shroud, easing it out a bit more in lighter conditions and vice-versa.

Your downhaul will generally get tighter the heavier the wind. If your sailing high and still having trouble keeping the hull somewhat flat then you may want to try (among many other things) tightening the downhaul.

These are some things you'll just have to play with in different conditions to see what works best with your rigging. If your still not feeling like you're sailing right then maybe try playing with your mast or spreader rakes or your tension.

I regards to rotation and down haul we where sailing in under 5 knts with a large amount of rotation out and minimal down haul. This was dead slow and we had 0 height.

Some comments where that in the real light stuff I should use less rotation as per heavy winds to flatten the main out as too much shape stalls the sail. Still have to give this a go.

Can't say I've ever heard of using less rotation in real light winds. Sailing in less than 5 knts is just slow all around..also consider the combined weight of you and your crew..it will really show in winds this slow.

This is a good tuning guide, its for a Nacra F18 but all the concepts are the same. Those two articles from the DailySail.com are great, Mitch Booth pretty much just talks about exactly how he sails and tunes the Tiger.
