I say put it up to a vote like we did about equipping H16's with spinnakers for the Alter Cup. If it gets shot down, it gets shot down. These aren't laws brought forth by the hand of God void of interpretation, these are just club rules. To me it seems foolish to exlude to not combine the Tiger and WC fleets (when there actually is a WC fleet).

I'd be willing to gamble that HC USA will sell quite a few of these, which is a good thing. Those seeking the WC will sell their Tigers, which a good portion of which will be bought by people looking for a cheaper in to the F18 class.

My advice to the tiger/WC/F18 class racers/sailors, is to get in contact with Rob Jerry, as he is the appointed Tiger Class Rep., and he can help gather information and help mold everyones thoughts into a cohesive plan of action.
As with most issues, we can talk till we're blue in the face, but this issue can be organized and thought out so contact Rob and mold this into something that can be implemented, not just talked about.

Matt, are you racing? I thought you farmed out the H17?

I've got thunderstorms and 14mph on Saturday, Sunny and 9 mph on Sunday.

I did farm out the H17. Dave Rice is using it.

Try this weather link:
http://windmapper.com/?Loc=CE

Hover the mouse over the arrow where PC is.

Now up to 24 mph on Saturday.

Back to the F18 thing:

I have to say that Bob Merrick was really nice about trying to get the Formula 18s recognized to sail in the Hobie regattas...thanks Bob. It did not do much to change things but it did bring the subject to the forefront for a while.

On the West Coast we found the crowbar that was big enough to get a Formula 18 class sailing even though the majority of boats here were Hobie Tigers. It is a rapidly growing group that is including incredible sailors, Pete Melvin, and the Glaser's are the latest. I am sure that the Formula 18 North Americans in September at Alamitos Bay Yacht Club have a bit to do with it but...

As mentioned before the Formula 18s all seem to be relatively closely matched. I think there is more to do with tactics winning a race than the small difference in boatspeed, if any. The sailors that win have many miles of experience racing.

If the Tiger is a bit off the pace maybe a different mast and blades will change that. I know that the newer rudders feel good to me. Try not changing crews for a few regattas and see how that works for you.

The mast in the pictures I saw of the WC looked like the same mast on the Tiger. Blades are different though.

Later,
Dan
