The folks down there just told me about this and haven't had a chance to publicize it yet. Maybe it'll be on their website soon but it sounds like a longstanding ambition that just got the green light. I hope to be there although I last raced small boats (Lasers) in high school and big boats in college. I tell you there was some really nice wind in that area last weekend. Info is posted: http://kittyhawkwatersports.com/events.htm Columbus Day Regatta October 10-11, 2009 Harvey Sound Access Nags Head, NC Rules The event will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing. Condition of Entry/Eligibility This event is open to all catamarans that are Albemarle Sound friendly. Skippers must carry appropriate individual liability insurance of $100,000 or more Scoring/Classes This two-day event will be scored using the Portsmouth Yardstick Handicap Rules. The low point scoring system will be used. Saturday and Sunday to be scored and awarded for 1ST through 5TH place as independent races and overall cumulative corrected times from both days will be combined to determine an overall champion, second and third places. Schedule of Events Saturday, October 10 9 am Registration 10 am Skippers Meeting 11 am Race Begins 5 pm Drinks and appetizers at Pamlico Jack’s Restaurant just two doors down! Sunday, October 11 10 am Race Begins 2 pm Post Race Trophy Presentation and BBQ at Nags Head Pavilion |
