Hola
Hobie 18 North Americans in Mississippi Sunday June 19-Thursday June23 at the Ocean Springs Yacht Club. Fair winds, flat seas is what we should expect. This will be the first opportunity to see some of the guys that got the NEW hulls participate, so it'll be pretty much like a new boat on the water.
Email me with any questions, use Regatta Network to sign up, this is a 4 day and we have a really good party planned for the closing evening.

There has been a concern voiced by some of the competitors, with regards to the weight of the Hobie 18's with the new hulls.

The NOR says there will not be a weigh in.

In an attempt to keep with the spirit and intent of the rules, the Hobie 18 Fleet will provide scales and will be weighing boats that have not been weighed at a North American Championship Event before, or have been weighed at less than minimum in the past.

My understanding is that weighing will not be "required" but should be done if there is any question as to whether or not your boat meets the minimum weight as described in the class rules.

This is something we will be doing to preserve the integrity of the class and the event, and prevent equipment protests during or after the racing has begun.

There may be further input on this subject from the regatta's organizing authority, or the PRO.

Respectfully submitted for your information, consideration and comment.

Stephen

Better Safe than Sorry, and if that is the intention of the 18 group, than I can tell you that the organizers of the MMM will concur with this decision.

Thank you for stepping up with that, Stephen.

My 17 has never been weighed, so I will take advantage of the set-up.

Seemed like the right thing to do.

We'll be glad to have you there as a competitor.

Now, for something really important.

Who's bringing the Patron ?

Juarez gold. $7.39 a bottle. Might as well be MEN if we're drinking tequilla.

and what corn based "kick-a-poo" juice is known to be distilled in "them ther' hills" in the southern United States .....

I do believe it is called "BOURBON"!!!!!!

Wild Turkey Rare Breed ...... smooooooooooth .........

I have this theory .... I believe that the better wines/ and liqueurs have a "cork" ..... ( I think "Patron" does .... it's just not made in this country) ...

I like the .... "squeek / thunck" .... the cork makes when you open the bottle to pour yourself one ...... "screw tops" just don't make that sound ......

Exactly how do you weigh a rigged boat? I do not race and I am sure my 83 H18 is not light (especially with the SX sings) but I am curious what mine would weigh and how I might weigh it easily.

There are many different ways, none of which have been proven to be very accurite.

Mast down unless its deadass wind. I usually use a set of electroic race car scales that's dead on weightwise, but if the mast is up and its blowing, its screws with the actual reading.
