Post subject:  Experienced Crew Needs a Skipper for 16/20 North Americans
I was going to sail at the 20 Nationals but have changed plans. On the other hand, my crew, Max Hudson, is chomping at the bit to race and would like to find a skipper on either a 16 or 20. Max is an awsome 15-year old who has crewed with me on the 20 for the last year. We’ve raced at the last two Hobie Mid-America’s together, Fleet 23’s Leukemia Cup, and at several events at the Shreveport Yacht Club. This past spring his family bought a new Hobie 16 and they promptly took it down to the Mississippi Mega where he crewed on his boat in the Youth Nationals with Jake Larson as skipper. Additionally, he and another youth from Shreveport have been campaigning a 420 this summer in several events on their circuit. I can’t say enough positive things about Max’s character, attitude and work ethic, not to mention that he’s fearless in the trapeze. He does a great job crewing on the 20 and is very comfortable up front. He knows all the strings. His is the face of sailing’s future.

If you haven’t firmed up your plans yet to sail in the North Americans, his mom, Coco Hudson, will charter a Hobie 16 if you don’t have one and pay the registration fee for an experienced racing skipper if you’d have Max crew for you. Coco's already made plans to compete on their boat with Gordo Bagley. Please let us know if you are interested or know of any other experienced Hobie sailors that might be. Max would crew on either a 16 or a 20, but if they charter, it will be a 16.

Around 150 lbs, approx 5'9", Athletic build. Max is on the right, suited up.

Pretty sure that their boat will be used by Max's mom and Gordo Bagley.

Quique's looking for a boat, too.

I would think Quique trumps me in the pecking order of charter boats.

Matt is correct once again, sorry Madge. You should convince Jagger to double stack a couple of boats for you and him and come down also???

Ya but Gordo doesn't. You should duke it out ion the parking lot winner takes the boat? I got my money on you.

save your money for better thingsto bet on,like the Packers beating Denver this weekend,GO PACK GO.(Or just as safe, bet for Minni to lose.)

I'd be very interested if a competitive boat is available. The last time I raced a Hobie was in the Prosail series, but have raced them all, and anything else from Windsurfers to big boats. In the meantime, tell his Mom to buy him a Laser. There is no better base to start with than hundreds of hours in a Laser, and racing them.

Now that's funny! I don't think anyone on earth could convince a 15 year old who's passionate about sailing his brand new Hobie 16 that he needs to spend hundreds of hours in a Laser! Just sayin'....
