The US Sailing Multihull National Championships for the Hobie Alter Trophy (The Alter Cup) is being sailed in Hobie 16s on San Francisco Bay, hosted by the Sausalito Yacht Club.

Curious to know how old the boat was that Enrique was sailing?I know he had new sails for sure.

Actually, the boat was not that new. Couple years old for sure. After the first day he had to replace the tramp because the one on It was old enough to be tearing. The hulls had the older blue hobie logo on the side.

He did bring his own (crisp) sails and also brought their EPO3's with them.

Pretty amazing they can kick-ass on a used boat handed to them the day before the regatta.

Also, he and his wife were super nice people, can't wait to sail with them again. I'll be rooting for them in 2016 along with the USA.

Last year of the blue diamond logo was 2007, so that boat was at least 6 years old.

Also on a old boat!!!!!!!!!!!! Believe it was a 1998 model. He mentioned he bought it when his son was 4, he is 20 now!!!!!!!!!

Is there some way to get a video of these races from the air like that?


I would really like to see how and where these races were won and lost...

As in where did he make his gains consistently... and then looking at the results there had ought to be a bunch of instructional footage as the rest of the fleet slugged it out...

I didn't shoot a full race, but I'd be happy to if someone wanted it. For the Alter Cup, I was on another job, and just took the opportunity to shoot my Hobie family! Chopper time isn't cheap. :D
