So I have been casually following the Extreme Sailing series.

The interesting stat is average speed on start signal. I guess positioning is more important than speed.

From the races I saw in the series.. Those that left the line with speed were better of than those who fought and "won" the spot they wanted... The alinghi boat really seemed to avoid the pack and go for speed.

Of course though.. Starting with speed means they were "positioned" properly...

I think...

I guess speed off the line puts you into the all important clean air. Once you've got clean air, the world is yours! :twisted:
