Look for the NOR on the NAHCA website. We need 15 boats registered by July 31 in order for the event to happen. Lets show em that the 18 fleet is still strong. Hope to see all you rowdy 18 sailors there!!!

Post subject:  Set up for Failure?

With the very poor word getting out about the 18's Nationals it will not surprise me at all to hear about "lack of interest" as a justification for not supporting the older 18 class next year.
I've been trying to find out about a Nationals all year. And after seeing the post above, I tried to find the NOR. GOOD LUCK! It's not even on the host fleets website yet. And the race is in September. And as long as I'm enjoying my whine with this meal.... take note of all the other major race locations. Mexico, Australia, California, etc. But ours is in Illinois! Now when did Illinois become a destination location?
Oh well, now I have to decide between the 20, and the Tiger for my next boat if I want to compete at some higher level. :(

Illinois and the St. Louis area are beautiful, especially in early fall. Midwest sailing is some of the best!

Yea, I'm sure it's nice, and I shouldn't be so closed minded about someone elses home state. It's just that I've never seen a poster in any travel agents office for Illinois.

After sailing in the SF bay, how could any other salt water venue compare? You'd have to go to fresh water just to get a new perspective!

Post subject:  Don't forget about the H18 Worlds in Melbourne Australia

Hiyas

I hope you all know about the H17 & H18 worlds late this year in Australia. Details are available from www.hobieworlds.com.

The 18's of late have been strong in Australia (They are still being built new here) although they have been under seige from the Tigers of late. I believe there is a place for both and would like to see both succeed.

Can anybody provide any feedback as to the number of 18's actively sailed in NA these days?

Michael

Post subject:  cancelled

 Sorry folks but the H18 continentals have been cancelled already. NAHCA in their infinite wisdom has determined that the event could not proceed because "the event could not meet our basic requirements of an official certified judge. This was for economics for the event only." I can only hope that the national charter doesn't continue to turn a cold shoulder on the 18 sailors. It seems odd that the same year the boat goes out of production there wont be a national event. Anyhoo I guess we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed for next year.

HEY NAHCA
It's not too late to include us at the Tiger/20/17 Nationals in Monterey. It's short notice, but better than cancelling all together.
Come on, don't throw us out with the molds.
