I have been putting together my email list for the 14s and have 55 names on it.
I have a few bad email addresses I hope someone can help me with:
Latham Souther
Pat Bisesi
These are the only 2 so far that bounced.
I need addresses for Paul and Kathy Garlick, Jim West, Dave Witmer.

And if you want to be included on the mailing list, or know of any 14 sailors that should be on the list: contact me [email protected] so I can contact them.

I am shooting for 40 boats confirmed attendance by the end of this month! That will make this the 2nd biggest regatta of 2008.

You can use Frankenboat if you want. Newish sail and only 10lbs over min.

Hooray for airline nonsense.

I am investigating coming to the 14 NA's and was looking at airline prices. Northwest flies to both Des Moines and Minneapolis. The flight to DSM is less than half the price than the flight to MSP...AND CHANGES PLANES IN MSP. It's the exact same plane and flight from Portland either way :P Go figure. Even if I wanted to come in from MSP I'd still take the DSM flight and just not take the connecting flight...

In any case I don't think that flying in is going to happen. Regatta organizers, why do you pick beautiful locations that are not near major airports (Harrison Hot Springs, too!)? Just kidding.

A slight possibility that I might hitch a ride with a fellow Div 4 sailor (Laura Sullivan). Also if our Fleet 72 H14 can be fixed up enough...it was free so no idea what the condition is or what it needs (sails, traveller, trap, new shroud at a minimum)...

Any idea how much the 14's fee is going to be? Would love to come - never been farther east than Yellowstone (I know, I'm sadly undertravelled) and heard that Clear Lake is good sailing. We'll get you all to the Columbia GOrge again someday!

Okay, Des Moines is only a bit more than an Hour south and we'll have someone get you and take you back without too much fan fare. Maybe a little gas $ but thats about it.
I have some 14s you can use HERE already, that need you to bring blocks and a life jacket and butt bucket and thats it.
The fee (don't hold me to this) because I forgot, but I think its $150. That includes all meals, shirt and trophy ( if you beat out 30 other guys!)
and thats it.
I can be contacted at 641-425-8720 to discuss any help you may need. I have a line on 3 charters right now, and I am reserving them for guys like this, that are coming from outside the civilized world, to do the 14 deal.
Hope that helps. And I realize, you may have more people in your subdivision than we have in our entire town, I was just joshing about the 'civilized world' thing.

Thanks for the additional info! Charter may or may not be my thing - depends on how much that would be. The flight is cheaper than gas for a scooter there would be (not to mention faster) so that's an option. I'm sure Laura and Jerry are driving in so that's another path...

In any case, the Executive Vice President of Scheduling and Finance may not agree to any of this, just trying to explore options. $150 sounds like a deal for what you get (and the size of the event for the good ol' 14, wow!)

As for civilized world, there are cows behind the house across the street. MooooooooOooOo! gotta love calving season....

I was kinda thinking about sailing the whole event, not just the first couple of races. [img]http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/images/smilies/rofl[1].gif[/img]

Does it have one blue hull with a white deck, one orange hull witha red deck, and a yellow/blue/white faded vinyl tramp, and mismatching sails?

No, its not that bad. Its an '88 Coleman boat, was really nice when I bought it from this guy in Minneapolis. I sold the sails for more than I paid for the whole boat and trailer, so I had zero in it. (I bought this for my daughter and she never sails it so I do) I put my good 16 sails on it and we've been racing it when not on the 20. Anyway, one time in A fleet while heading up to A mark, the Port hull suffered Catastophic failure and snapped in 1/2 and we did a pitchpole/deathroll and sank. I found a newer white hull from a newer boat and put that on and it works great, just looks dumb.
