Post subject:  The big question

The trifoiler sounds like the ultimate sailing craft. What I can't understand is why Hobie stopped manufacture and why I've never seen one (I'm in Sydney, Australia). Especially compared to windsurfers in lighter winds, on flat water, the trifoiler should have taken off like wildfire. Are trifoilers too expensive; too scary; too complicated, or what ??

Only a few hundred were ever made... so you would have to be in the right place at the right time to see one.

Yes, expensive
Yes, complicated

Not really scary, but required certain conditions. Best in 12-20 knots and flat water, but handled 3 foot chop.
