I know it's not a trifoiler but it says Hobie and it's a tri ripping across a bay sooo read on. Somebody sent me a youtube vid knowing I love big fast sailing trimarans. I was lovin' the whole thing until about 2:05 when I caught a very brief glimpse of some gangley looking single sail Hobie tri that was on plane ripping across some Euro bay. It's brief so be ready to hit pause at 2:05.....

It's not a Tri-foiler.

It's a custom one-off foiler with a Hobie 20 rig.

As close as I've come is that the clip was filmed from an event in Europe in 2005 so maybe it was a debut run of some "Frankenboat" pasted together out of spare parts by some inventive Frenchy that didn't make prime time. Intriguing for sure.

I know from experience that it's really hard to keep a planing hull upwind which is why a foil serves to lessen wetted surface while also creating some lateral resistance. Now that I'm too creaky to windsurf any longer I'm starving for speed in a reasonably priced rig that I can sit on but I keep drawing a blank....

Check this out, for the rehearsal dinner for my first marriage our minister was late. He was 82 I believe. We figured he was just driving slow.

He shows up in a wet suit, with more energy than any of us. He was on Canandaigua Lake wind surfing and lost track of the time :)

Also, wouldn't the Hobie Adventure Island meet your req's???
