I'm thinking it could use a lil more power in the lighter wind conditions of san diego Sunday was a great day for sailing at Mission Bay, wind was up a little and tons of sail boats out there the bravo was moving pretty good but I kept thinking it coulda been a lil faster... guess I'm just used to power boats oh yeah... is that five mph thing in the bay just for power boats or does it include sailboats as well? thanks! |

I've never been stopped in Mission Bay for exceeding the speed limit on a sailboat. Faster? Bigger boat? I don;t think the Bravo can carry a bigger sail. |

Without shrouds and a forestay you would start to exceed the limits of the design and things would start to go snap, snap. The wave is only a foot longer than the Bravo and yet look at the beam and the sail area difference between the two. It is significant. That is due to the fact that the wave has the type of rigging it does. I worry that if I had two adults weighing in at 200lbs each the boat would not begin to heel and that a-frame would just snap. The Bravo is what it is. A great little boat to get out on quick, not deal with a lot of rigging and not worry about getting over powered. I have had a Dart 18 & currently have a Dart 15. Both high performance fiberglass cats, but I love my Bravo for the overall convience. |

I've heard (and said) this before, "All I need is a little more speed". Let me tell ya Steve, it doesn't end once you get it. You'll spend all kinds of time and $$ tweaking the boat and squeeze everything out of it you can. Then start thinking about a bigger boat and start tweaking that one. Every time I look at another boat, it takes about 5 min until I start what could be updated/changed. I wonder if there is anyone on this forum who hasn't needed "just a little more speed". |
