Post subject:  Cat Trax with Bravo ?

Hi there
I have ordered a Bravo (hopefully delivery in June) and need something to move it around on a soft sandy beach (Belgium Coast)

Can you use the Cat Trax with the Bravo. I can see the hulls would not fit either side of the wheels but can you put the Hull Cradles on the axle on the inside of the wheels and use it that way ?

(No one here has a Bravo so I cannot take a tape measure to the beach :-)

I really need the balloon tyres as the narrow tyres on my Laser trolley are back breaking to drag through the sand.

Any thoughts welcomed.

Andy

Thanks, I have a similar trolley to this for my Laser, what I am really after is the big wheels you get on the Cat Trax, I am hoping the standard Cat Trax will fit the Bravo. If not I was planning to buy the same wheels as the Cat Trax and make a trolley from Aluminium.

Did you ever get an answer?? I'm still debating whether to get some Cat Trax for my Getaway but if it also fits the Bravos...that'll certainly expedite my decision.

I build a dolly for my bravo using wheel barrow tires from home depot. Works pretty well in the sand, although I don't have a very long way to go.

My dolly has wheelbarrow tires too. I don't really like it in the sand. I guess it depends on the type of sand.

Hello,

I just picked up a used Hobie Bravo. I already have a Cat Trax from an old Hobie 16. I too would like to use these to transport the Bravo. I am trying to move the wheels outward so that the Bravo will fit between them. Normally on the H16, the wheels will go between the hulls. This looks like it will work but won't know till I try. Don't want to spend hundreds more on a new solution, so hope this will work. If anyone else has tried this, I would like to see the solution. Will need to tie the axle onto the boat somehow. Will try to tie to the A-frame but that might be too heavy for 1 person in that position since it is so far forward. We'll see. On the H16, you tie it to the shrouds which are probably just a little bit forward of the center of the boat.

I recently built two 'Cat Trax' using 24" plastic dock wheels, 1 1/2" plastic conduit, 1 1/4" galv conduit, and 1 1/2" plastic conduit connectors.

Loosely based on this design...
