I have had only a few opportunities to sail my Bravo but find I have similar problems to some Bravo owners. I am in my sixties and very active. I am also very short in stature, just under five feet tall. I cannot step the mast without assistance. Since I live alone on a lake this is a definite problem. The mast assist mechanisms in the Hobie catalog won't work for the Bravo. The mast has no side stays to keep it centered. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also the hiking stick needs to be longer so I can center myself in the hull. Will the adjustable aluminum hiking stick in the Hobie catalog (P/N 3202) attach to the existing Bravo tiller? |

Yes an extend able tiller should work. You might try placing the mast head onto a ladder or similar before stepping onto the boat. Once on the boat, if the mast is at thigh height or higher... makes it easier. |

My wife is 5ft nothing and she too had difficulty with the standard hiking stick. We bought her an adjustable one from West Marine that worked great. |

As I walk forward with my hands sliding down the mast and pushing the mast up, I lose control of it side to side. I saw a picture of a man stepping the mast from the side of the boat. I don't know how he got around the front and I have not tried this yet. Liz |
