Took the gps out with me today...12-13 mph winds, 75 degrees, max gps speed 10.4 mph. Fun afternoon...begining to get the hang of it. By the way, gps works fine enclosed in a zip lock bag and inside the forward storage compartment.

Another fun afternoon. Winds 24-28 mph. Sail reefed in about 1/3. Max gps speed 11.6 mph. Knocked down twice in 3 hrs. Flying a hull many times.

nice, set the speed to kts. Did 8.9 kts yesterday in NJ. Winds about 10-18 kts. My problem is that I run out of runway as the lake is only a half a mile wide (and the water is 35 degrees or so).

No problem with open water here...just have to be sure I can get back by dark. Out again today without the gps. Water temp 72, air temp 81. Don't see how you can do it with water temps of 35! I believe 8.9 knots is a little over 10 mph. Sorry, I'm basically a land lubber and relate to mph better than knts. Wind was about 15 mph and could fly a hull about anytime on a broad reach. Next high wind day 25+ I'm going to try it with the full sail, not reefed. Expect I'll spend most of my time in the water.
Good sailing.
