Hi folks,

I'm new to the forum as my Bravo just arrived yesterday, although I admit to lurking here a few times to learn what I could about the boat.

My first question is regarding the forward rod on the a-frame. When screwing it into the base, it is always facing backwards by the time it flushes up to the base. I expected it to require some tightening or loosening to get it perfect but it will not tighten 180 and by loosening it 180, I'm left with a 1-2 ml gap that I am not comfortable with. Although after tightening the other two bars on the main a-frame bracket it all feels extremely firm, I'm afraid there will be too much stress on the forward bolt.

I didn't have exactly the right size washer to meet the difference so I left it together without any Loctite for now. It feels extremely firm but I'd prefer it sits flush. Am I being over cautious?

3 days, no comments. Oh well...

If anyone is interested, I solved the problem. I couldn't find a stainless washer just the right size to bring it close enough that tightening could bring it the rest of the way, so I tweaked a nylon washer down on a belt sander.

Thought I'd share in case anyone else runs across this as the stock fit was very unforgiving and if you are like me, you feel better when load bearing pieces actually fit.

Since the loads on that part are almost always pulling up or pushing down. The gap should be of no real consequence. The washer idea sounds like it worked. You don't re-assemble this though? Should be a one time assembly.

Thanks Matt,

No, I certainly hope never to have to re-assemble this. I just held back on the Loctite until I had it the way I wanted it. Accidentally lost the freebee blue packet and used red so it should be very secure.
