Post subject:  Purpose of shock cord on mast bag?

I've taken my new Bravo out a couple of times, and so far I'm very pleased. One thing I haven't figured out is the purpose of the shock cord on one end of the mast bag. It's about 6 feet long, with a hook on the end.

Does anyone know what its intended use is?

I believe that is to double over the mast bag when the mast is in two pieces.

I use it to help secure the end of the bag/mast to the stern of my bravo for trailering.

Our Bravo trailer has a custom front mast support (similar to larger cats) so we travel with the mast, sail and bag as a single unit and use 4 wraps of the bungie to hold the rear end of the mast (where the bag is padded) to the boat (as does tommc). Works great, we can set up her boat in about 10 minutes. 8)

Fastcat wins!

The bungee is to use as a tiedown.
