I just acquired a 2005 Hobie Bravo (which I love) that had been sitting for at least 10 years. The furling part of the mast seems to be hard to turn. I have used a pressure washer (with soap and water) and a dry lube spray. It still seems to not work properly based on Youtube vidoes I have seen. If you have taken it apart and rebuilt or have fixed this problem another way, please let me know. Thanks. |

Perhaps some penetrating fluid for a while before adding the lube? May not help at all but it's cheap to try before you have to take stuff apart. |

The ball bearings could be damaged. Replacing them would require removing one of the collars. That requires removing (Drilling) 4 stainless rivets. 8010131 RIVET POP 3/16x3/8 PH-SS (4) 90610112 90610112 DELRIN BALL 3/8 DIA (PKG OF 12) US$ 9.19 You need 48 bearings total 4 sets. |
