Post subject:	first time sailing, Main will not raise all the way
This was our first time on the water, and besides the furling not being "smooth" operation to say the least. We could not get the main all the way up on the sail track. after attaching the downhaul, even a little downhaul would pull the eyelet to the boom. how could it be jamming up? and is there any way to fix that on the water?

You need to inspect your luff track. maybe even spend $2 and buy a sail slug (1/2" if I remember correctly from a marina) and slide it down the track to see if you're getting hung up. You need the sail all the way to the top of the mast, otherwise you'll be inviting trouble. Like having the sail pull out of the luff track at the top of the mast and not be able to raise or lower it. I only say this because of the unintentional dropping of the mast may have put the squeeze on the track. Did you pull the snot out of the halyard when raising the main and left it under tension prior to down hauling? You might also try spraying the inside of the luff track with some DRY teflon,,,Dupont makes some, available a Lowes or Home Despot.

Get the manual from the support area. You have to release the tack from the boom. Use the 3:1 halyard purchase to fully hoist and tension as the halyard stretches when downhaul is applied. Attach the downhaul and tension to re-connect the tack.

the sail luff is in good shape and it ran smoothly up the luff track but i think i need to run the sail up the mast on the ground maby to see where it might be getting caught.
