I know it looks wierd, but it is typical for hulls to be outboard of the tires on a cat trailer. What is different here is that he doesn't use crossbars to extend beyond a "frame" and the wheels. The frame itself is under the hulls. That is what allows the tires to be mounted inboard on the frame. I would bet his tires are actually pretty standard on the width measurement. |

Your explanation makes sense, Matt. Guess that's what I get for not owning my own cat and always sailing from beaches. I've never had to trailer a cat. And I've never even examined a cat on a trailer up-close.

The frame lies under the hulls for two reasons; 1. cut down on the dirt & rocks it picks upon the road 2. if a centerboard were to magically drop in transit its not a problem REMEMBER This trailer was meant for LONG hauls cross country, you'd hate to drive 13+ hours to get there and find out something's (censored)! We're presently considering buying a spare mast just in case. most people are freaked out by the fact, it has no connecting axle! the wheels are independent of one another each on its own torsion axle (like a vw bug's rear end) Mounting hover lights along the bottom of the frame was seriously considered!!! We're pretty tired of the thing, more sailing less tinkering! |

Received my overhead wire stickers from Hobie today, Thank you Hobie cat USA! I was a little disappointed to find only ONE sticker in the package but beggars cant be choosers! weather here is inconsistent (1" snow yesterday 60F today) but I would imagine the mast going up sometime in the next two weeks. |

Sort of a project I've been fiddling with  Call it a trade secret. The Idea is to do the unthinkable; Make a rudder blade lighter and stronger than an EPO but like I said It's just a project.... |
