I have a 1988 21SE with the stock mylar pink, purple and turquoise sails with these dimensions:

Main sail

Luff 29'2"
Leech 30'6"
Foot 8'9"

Furling Jib

Luff 20' (zipper)
Leech 21'7"
Foot 8'11"

They do not add up to 300 sq ft. listed in the specifications for main and jib.

Any input would be appreciated.

How are you calculating the area? If you're doing your calc by using the area of a right triangle - Luff x Foot / 2 - then you're not taking into account a considerable amount of area in the roach of the mainsail.
