I've been looking for a while now to find a Hobie 21 SC in good condition with a trailer. I've seen a couple, but they all seem to be too far away from me here in Austin TX. If you have one, and live within 12 hrs of Austin, please let me know if you'll consider selling it. It's already well into summer here, and I'm dying to get out on the lake!

Megrews boats in Charlestown RI has a nice 21sc for sale that has been there for a while. They would probably be willing to wheel and deal a little on the price. I know what you're thinking "rhode island is too far!" but I have a solution. Theres website called Uship.com where you enter in your shipping task with locations and drivers bid on it. You take the best ( usually the lowest ) bid and they can pick the boat up for you. I just did it when I bought my Tiger from SC. It made more sense to let a driver take the time (and gas) to deliver than to take off work etc. They usually pick something up each way, which is how they make any money. My Tiger got hauled 1000 miles for $750, which I didn't think was too bad. Good luck!!

You did say the magic word please. In fact, I own a 2000 21SC (number 317) which I used to sail at Lake Pleasant, near Phoenix, AZ. It is currently in storage there and I am in Boulder, CO. Became ill this year and was unable to go south and sail. Have been thinking about selling it.

Previous owner stored this boat in his garage for eight years. Even so, main tramp was toast when I bought it for $4200, so purchased a white OEM replacement from Hobie dealer for $643, which I have not yet installed. I also purchased an aftermarket Cheetah bar, which cost $475, plus the installation.

My brand-new Yamaha 4HP was stolen off the boat while in locked storage (you know AZ) so you would have to provide your own motor. Everything else is pretty cherry. Think boat is worth around 5K, given the improvements, and the recent vintage.

You can email me directly about your interest if you wish. If Phoenix is too far to drive, or you find a better deal, and manage to acquire a 21SC, I hope you enjoy flying across the water at warp speed as much as I did.

Regards, Lance Slaughter

I'm sorry to hear about your illness. I hope it's nothing serious and that you will be able to get back to sailing soon. Phoenix is a stretch, but definitely manageable. I looked for a way to email you, but couldn't find your email address. Can you email me some pics to [email protected]? Once I have your email address, we can take this topic offline.

Thanks!

Thanks everyone for your replies. I ended up driving to Arizona to buy Lance's boat, and I'm now the proud owner of a 21SC!
