Where can I get the canterboard springs for the SE? I live in Germany so European source would be great but I have contacts in the US who are traveling back and forth all the time so US source is also good.

I bought this boat for a song and I'm going to try to put it back into pristine shape.

I'm not sure, it's been decades since I've looked at the two, but there is some chance they are the same ones for the 17. Compare the part numbers to check.

Replacing the springs is an incredible pain in the ass, because you have to remove the bolt that holds it to the centerboard well. The problem is that you can only reach that bolt with one arm and, to top it all, the bolt and the nut are covered with silicon sealant.

Somebody suggested replacing it with a shock-cord that can be threaded around said bolt and then clamped to the centerboard. Worth trying.

Cheers.

Hey, Bob, I suggested to use bungees because replacing the springs is so difficult, but if you still prefer the springs I have a couple of original ones that came with the boat. I'll sell them to you for half of whatever they cost plus postage.
