Does anyone know where I can get a port side hatch cover?
Many thanks

I'm not sure if there is a difference between the port or starboard covers. In either case I would be tempted to make them myself. I'm not saying this would work, but create a mold from your good one, by first spraying it down with mold release. Make a bed of modeling clay, smash the existing lid into it and then carefully remove it w/ out distortion. Spray the impression with mold release again. Spray or paint the impression with gelcoat. Lay in some fiberglass cloth, resin and repeat. Pop the cover out of the mold, trim the edges, buff out the gelcoat and pat yourself on the back.

You might have to use some elastomeric paint and cloth to make your initial impression, or even break down and buy a mold making kit.

I know the above is overly simplified, but making your own is doable...

Extremely oversimplified!

I bought a new screw in hatch for my 18 for like 14 bucks at WestMarine.

There ya go, just go buy one! :D

Sorry Matt, I just figured there'd be slim pickings for any SC parts anymore.

Okay just in case anybody else happens to have a similar misfortune as myself, 60 and over sailing Hobie 21 lost hatch cover, while trailering! Ha!
Stay tuned I'm going all-in on this one. I am buying Smooth-On brand, silicone tin cured rubber: Mold Max 30.
I'm going to be casting a brush-on mold, reinforcing with a polyester / fiberglass, mother mold.
next I purchased some Ashland, maxguard gelcoat - no wax, which I will paint first into the mold. Next lay up some polyester resin fiberglass to molding a new hatch cover.
Hopefully with results very similar to the original hatch cover.
the bolt and other hardware should not be too difficult to assemble.
Stay tuned if this works out I might post a few pictures just for the fun of it. Any tips are welcome.

I will be set up to make more than one hatch cover and likely will make more than one the first time around.

Smooth on brand mold Max 30 is a silicone tin cured rubber and should have a shelf life of five or more years.
If someone more capable would like custody of the mold, when done I am open to that as well...
Best Regards,
Colby.

I have 1 original hatch cover if someone needs it. I lost one and made 2 new out of aluminum. I don't get on here much. 7023264591

I have made a total of three hatch covers.
Each one a little better. all functional.
I am still hoping for perfection...
Text me if you need a hatch cover.
