Its a 1989 h 21 se. Went for a great sail cruising around 18-20 knots I noticed the crack growing . I know there is an L shaped bracket in the hull which I inspected that looks solid. Does anyone else have this problem? Thought about glassing the top side around it- or is that just covering a potential problem?

May be detached from the side wall? The "L" has a hole through which glass rope run through. That is laminated down the side wall.

If not detached... maybe just a stress crack from a single heavy load?

I have noticed this on my 21 SE also, have you done any type of repair on yours? or have you just been sailing it as is? I'm going to try to get a better look at the"L" that should be laminated to the side wall.

I drill a very small very shallow indent at the ends of stress cracks when they show up and this keeps them from spreading. My hobie has some stress cracks but the boat has been driven hard and put up wet many times. These boats probably were not designed to last this long
I live in fear of breaking the mast and ending up with some assorted HC21 se parts
