Has anyone heard of a design that allows wings to be hinged in towards the centerline of the boat rather than pulling each out of its hull sockets and reversing them?

Not possible with this wing design. The Hobie 18 wings hinged.

Take a look at the pictures for this one. Has modified wings that fold.

Looks like a great option if you have wing socket problems.

my wing sockets have small spider cracks and these have been there for 20 years I sometimes smear marine tex to seal the areas from moisture
Removing the wings to the wrong side of the boat is a lot easier than the hobie 18 folding wings
You probably do not have any problems
