Post subject:  Cleaning off Quagga and Zebra Mussels

Several of the lakes I would like to boat in recently posted warnings about the Quagga and Zebra mussels. For example some of the lakes no longer allow boats unless they are quarantined there in dry dock, for a period of time, and then never allowed to leave the lake.

Is there a special technique for cleaning the Inflatable Mirages to prevent spreading of these mussels. Or is just reinflating them at home and letting them remain dry for a period of time enough? Is washing the boat with soap or other chemicals needed?

No technique that the factory would know about.

Anyone else dealt with this issue?

There's no real technique to cleaning your yak of the zebra and quagga mussels, just brush any off. What I would suggest though is to towel dry your yak when you get it home and let it dry thoroughly in the shade. The inspectors at most lakes are looking for an environment where they could be living (ie. wet). So if your yak is bone dry you'll most likely to be in the clear.
