Hello to all!! I'm very happy cause finally I brought home my new i12. When I was trying to assembly the drive I found the left steel drum shaft like 1 inch out. Looks like the right one is on the correct place. (see picture). My question is how can I put it in without damaging the unit? Is very tightened!!

Later more comments about my new kayak.

Thanks

Use a mallet and pound the shaft back to center. Likely the drive was dropped on its side or impacted to push the shaft out like that.

Ok, Thanks!!! I'll do that. Looks like my i12 has a really bad time during the shipping process, in some how I think it suffers a hard blow. I found a hold in the travel bag exactly where the drive was.

Also, the first time I try to rise the bag from the side straps the bag. Well, I hope I find the rest working well.

Matt:

Is it really that easy to center the shaft? When i had my drive disassembled I got the impression that the shaft was very solidly bonded to the center drive structure somehow and I have a hard time seeing how the shaft would stay put at it's new position after having been pounded into place.

Yes... that easy. Newer drives have lateral splines, but there is no "bond" other than friction.

That's really nice to know since the shaft of one of my drives have been somewhat off center since I bought it. Not enough to disturb function but I suspect that it might have caused the drum to rub against the hull from time to time giving rise to a squeeking noise.
