Hello to all!! I'm very happy cause finally I brought home my new i12. When I was trying to assembly the drive I found the left steel drum shaft like 1 inch out. Looks like the right one is on the correct place. (see picture). My question is how can I put it in without damaging the unit? Is very tightened!! Later more comments about my new kayak. Thanks |

Use a mallet and pound the shaft back to center. Likely the drive was dropped on its side or impacted to push the shaft out like that. |

Ok, Thanks!!! I'll do that. Looks like my i12 has a really bad time during the shipping process, in some how I think it suffers a hard blow. I found a hold in the travel bag exactly where the drive was. Also, the first time I try to rise the bag from the side straps the bag. Well, I hope I find the rest working well. |

Matt: Is it really that easy to center the shaft? When i had my drive disassembled I got the impression that the shaft was very solidly bonded to the center drive structure somehow and I have a hard time seeing how the shaft would stay put at it's new position after having been pounded into place. |

Yes... that easy. Newer drives have lateral splines, but there is no "bond" other than friction. |

That's really nice to know since the shaft of one of my drives have been somewhat off center since I bought it. Not enough to disturb function but I suspect that it might have caused the drum to rub against the hull from time to time giving rise to a squeeking noise. |
