Post subject:  Heel strap

Hi-
I'm very impressed with the thought and construction that Hobie has put into my new Mirage i9s. I have a question/suggestion about an accessory. As an older, weaker geezer-style user, I find that I can easily pedal the boat, but I don't have the strength to keep my feet UP on the pedals for any length of time. It occurs to me that a sort of strap, harness or stirrup suspended from the pedal sides and going around my heel would help a great deal. I rigged up the toe straps with some string, and the idea seemed to work out, even if the implementation was crude and weak. Is there any commercial model of such a rig, or would Hobie consider making one??

Thanks
Dave Bredemeier

There is some information on how to do this by user "roadrunner" here in the forums some time ago. We have not yet come up with one we can sell as an accessory.

I use heel straps and prefer them over the Hobie toe straps. They are made of neoprene. Here's a how-to:
