I have the scotty mounts installed by the dealer when I bought it last year. Never got around to using them til this week. Put fishing pole holder in and a pole and within a minute them separated from the kayak. Dealer said he used the glue that came with the mounts. We are in a very hot muggy climate here in pan handle of florida.

Question: Should I buy some other kind of glue to reattach the scotty mounts?

Also maybe related. Both of my Hobie brands on the sides are separeting from the front edge. One side is off about 1/2 inch. the other about 1 1/2 inches. Can I just reglue with the same stuff I use for the scotty mounts?

tks

You using our accessory mount? Then the Scotty bolted to that? That would be required because of the soft radius of the tubes.. You need the radius and a large surface area to get the glue to hold. These things glue on like...permanent, so hard to imagine coming loose if done right. Use the glue provided with the kayak repair kit or with the accessory mount. Wet both surfaces, tack dry, then press together.

Matt,

I used the wrong words. Both Hobie accessory mount came unglued. They were done by the dealer. I did this time and used your glue. I have the patch kit and accessories kit so I used the tube from it. It appears strong. I will be taking it out this weekend and using a fishing pole holder attached to the accessory plate.

I have high hopes the dealer just got a bad batch of glue or something.

tks for the reply
