I have to go through sand and the current wheel cart is great on everything but sand. I see Hobie sells pneumatic tires for the Trax 2. Will these wheels fit the spindle on the I12 cart?

No. The Trax cart axle and wheel use a different type of lock on the hub. There is no Hobie option for sand tire on an i-series cart.

Hi,
I'm very close to buying the i14t, our first Hobie - the forums and other online content about the series have been very helpful.

On the current topic, I'm concerned that neither the Trax cart nor even its spare wheels will fit the inflatables - has nobody noticed that they weigh almost the same as the hardshells?

I'm guessing the universal kayak carts would work since they strap to the boat rather than go in the scuppers. They come with pneumatic tires. Not sure how easy these are to detach/stow/attach.

Haven't investigated thoroughly, but maybe Wheeleez could be adapted to the inflatables' cart. Might need longer axel or drilling new holes for the pins.

Thanks, I'll look into these possibilities before buying.

Another advantage to the strap-on carts is you can locate them wherever you want on the boat.

With the Hobie standard cart I can't fully load my i12 until I launch. I fish, so most of my weight - crate, tackle, rods, cooler, etc. - is going in the tankwell behind the seat. With the cart under the mirage drive well it means I have to load everything near the mirage drive well or the weight distribution is too ungainly for anything put REALLY short hauls.

It would be much better to put the cart wherever the best balance point is.

I'm looking into the Wheeleez carts for this reason.
