Post subject:  Leak in forward hatch

Hello all;
New to this board, but we have had our i14T for 3 years now with no problems. However it now has a leak inside the forward hatch where the grey tube curves up and runs along the inside of the top of the bow of the kayak. We can find the leak, but it is really awkward to work on because it is on the top, and there is very little clearance between it and the outer skin of the bow. We have tried to patch it with Tear Aid Type B flexible patches, but they don't hold - I guess because the grey tube fabric wrinkles up so much when the boat is deflated. Then the patch pops off when we try to re-inflate. Our local Hobie dealer is unable to work on it, and I assume it is out of warranty by now. We will take it to a dealer in another city who repairs Zodiacs etc but we have a trip booked and paid for leaving in about 10 days and we're afraid that even if it can be repaired, it might not be ready in time. It would certainly be easier if we could repair it ourselves. Reading through the posts in this forum it sounds like a fairly common problem. Have others been able to repair holes in this location? Any suggestions or past experiences would be more than welcome!

Maybe try Toobseal?

Thanks - we found a place to get it repaired. Turned out that the seam in the centre tube that runs up into the hatch had split. The tech had to cut the outside of the top of the bow to get at it, then he repaired the seam and patched the outer hull. We got it back in time for our ocean trip and it worked just fine so all's well that ends well!
