Hey Gas Yakker, I just bought a new Watersnake 24lb. Trolling motor, shipped to FMB. Florida, it is the same size as the 18lb. Watersnake trolling motor but has 33% more power, will let you know how it works when I go to FMB Florida in late October. Take care--------Frank

Frank,

That's quite a collection of trolling motors you're acquiring!

Please do let us know if it's worth the upgrade from the 18lb Watersnake. I built my motor mount this summer but still haven't gotten a chance to try it. Getting cold here now so may need to wait 'til next year :(.

Good luck & be safe!

If the 24 and the 18 use the same prop (I have no idea) then the extra power won't gain you anything but more battery draw.

If the 24 has a larger prop, or a prop with more pitch, you may realize a slight gain in speed.

Hey Gas Yakker. I forgot to say that I ordered a larger rudder for my Hobie i12, will let you know how the Watersnake 24lb. Trolling motor and large rudder works out after my Florida trip, would think the extra power would help, will see how it goes, I always like trying new things. Take care-----Frank

So did anyone find a speed difference between the 18 and 24 or does it just suck more power?

Are you in the salt? does wind/tide make a difference here?
