Better Start a Scottish Guide then...
Loch Lomond - 23 Miles long 9 Miles wide

I see what y'all mean about the stealth factor!

On the water not more than an hour when I had seen one osprey, one heron and Two Otters. Not just a glimpse, Actual sustained looking! while they crossed the channel and hopped out at the other side.
In a busy national park with jet skis and powerboats thats pretty good going. Didn't see the wild Wallabies though. (Wallabies! In Scotland? Yep! Escaped/released in the 1950's and breeding well on one of the islands.)

I had to add some rocks for ballast - My boat is the older outback and I'm just too light to make it sit stable! Will need to make a bigger rudder, It broaches easily especially with a Cross/Tailwind.

Here is where we were - I scooted in and around round the islands for about 4 hours. Ben Lomond is top right and the islands in a line from left to right are the Highland Boundary fault. The Highlands start here!! It actually looked like this today - Glorious!!

Would it have been Merk Cottage on Loch Long? I camped there when I was younger, Hellish heather ticks. It still belongs to the Navy. Opposite the Fuel and Munitions Depot. The Nuclear Depot is just down the road. Basically I live at Ground Zero!!

A favourite pastime while sailing was to dip our ensign to the subs if they were flying theirs. They Had to respond with a dip of their own, Which involved the officer, sending a sailor away along to the stern to dip it in reply. Looked like a long way to run especially on the massive Trident boats! But it was nice to see your Tax payments in action!

You can just imagine the officer on the bridge seeing the ensign going down and going "Bliddy Yachties.....Johnson! Be a good chap..." "Aye sir!"

Here is the Loch Long location. The put in point is about 100 metres astern of the US Destroyer. The MOD police have obviously have been asked to up the alert level and wanted to know our intentions. Normally they wouldn't bother anyone launching there.

The cottage has been refurbished by the Bothy association and anyone can stay there.

The outback managed to keep a decent pace with this speed machine powered by two 60 year olds.

Hobie at ramming speed. We picked up the Basketball floating in the Loch. We wondered if it might have gone overboard from the Ship. A shoot, score....oh no! moment?
