Nice pic Chris. A picture'w worth a thousand words... The answer is...if a ball bunjee is less than 75 cents I want two..if not I will stick to the 3mm shock cord....which incidentally I have modified by making another knot below to allow for a finger hold. Also now have one at either end so no need to think when stowing the paddle.... Pirate

I think a pack of four is about $2.40 at Bunnings Pirate.

Regarding the galvanic corrosion mentioned earlier in this thread, clearly the paddle holder should be installed with aluminum rivets and washers.

Hobie needs to prevent the galvanic corrosion which is cropping up in their akas and Xbars. I think it would be simple enough to REMOVE ALL STEEL/ALUMINUM CONTACTS THEREBY ELIMINATING THE GALVANIC CELL. Get rid of stainless steel screws in the akas and Xbars. Replace the stainless steel aka/Xbar pin with an aluminum alloy pin suitable to withstand the stress. Isolate the mast holder from the Xbar with suitable insulation.

Everyone in the marine construction business knows that aluminum/steel contact is deadly to aluminum. Get rid of of the source of the problem.

Keith
