Post subject:  Will the TI amas fit an AI?
I have been dying to get a look at a TI and i have been looking at a lot of pics of the TI lately. as i was looking at some photos of an AI next to a TI i noticed that the spacing between the akas on both boats looked very similar.
so Matt... Will a TI ama fit on a regular AI?
That would probably put a stop to the AI's habit of burying the bow in higher winds....

The crossbar spacing is shorter on the TI, so I believe these would not fold properly if used on an AI. There is also a concern about the beam strength of the existing welded connections on the AI if using the larger amas. This would put a MUCH higher stress on the boat.

Can the AI deck support the TI akas?

So can we replace the standard Aka crossbars with the aka crossbars from the TI?

As mentioned in another thread... the new crossbars will fit the AI and could become standard in 2011 models of the AI. This does not correct the fore and aft spacing issue that prevents the TI amas for working correctly with the AI... they would not fold against the hull properly.

when will the TI's aka's and cross bars be available if some of us would want to update our older AI's and what would the prices for both the cross bars and the aka's themselves be?
