How much chain are you using on your anchor CGM?

Was thinking of only 1m. Just to keep it a little flatter on the bottom. Will trial it and adjust if required.

Plastic chain or metal?

The main purpose of the chain is to weigh the anchor down to drag it sideways along the seabed when setting it, so a metal chain is more suitable.

Thanks for the link CGM.
I saw the show and thought the same. I will order the 1kg model.
PS-Just got back from South Australia. Had no internet access so have some catching up to do.
Did you end up making contact with those two Americans I just read about who were looking for AI's?

Unfortunately didn't get a chance to catch up. Been very busy the last few weeks. Was bad timing. Not long before the only sunlight I see will be on weekends

On a lighter note my new anchor turned up today. Looks pretty good. Might get a small length of chain to go with it. Seems you can have any colour you want so long as it's pink....
I'll give it a run over Easter if I can get out. Pretty cool how it rolls over if you put it on it's back or side. Bit like a cat - always lands on it feet. Well right side up anyway.

Well just thought I'd let you know that my pink anchor arrived today :)
I hadn't realised why it is pink - until I read the card that came with it, which states "60c from each nylon anchor sale in Australia goes to the cancer research". Nice touch :)
Now all I have to do is get some chain etc. I don't think I'll go as far as setting up the anchor trolley

I missed that reason. Sure makes it stand out though. I Walked into the boating shop on the weekend to get some chain and hadn't gone 10ft before the guy behind the counter asked if it was the new cooper anchor.....

I got 1m of chain to see how it goes.

Really cool that part of the money goes to cancer research. Glad it explains the color. Now have to pay for shipping to the US.

Yeah, same here. I took mine into Bias Boating to get some chain and ended up with all the guys from the shop playing with it - rolling it over and watching it turn upright.
I guess life must get a bit boring in a boat accessories shop.

So how many with the new anchors have given them a run?

I tried mine on the weekend. It didn't really like the soft mud but I did find a plastic bag fouled on it when I brought it back up. However in the sand it dug in much quicker than the folding jobbie I used at Christmas and held well.
